2026 Music Video Challenge

Boomtown Music Video Challenge

Boomtown’s Music Video Challenge has is back again! We’re hitting Play on this fun & free filmmaking contest Friday, August 21, when teams will pick from a selection of music made by local Southeast Texas bands. They’ll then have two weeks to create a music video for that song before turning it in one week later on the night of Friday, August 28. That’s when all the music videos will be screened together with the audience choosing a favorite. Winners will receive fabulous prizes! Be sure to read all the deets below.

Kick-off: Friday, August 21 at Madison’s on Dowlen back patio (4020 Dowlen Rd, Beaumont, TX). Filmmakers are invited to sign up starting at 7pm

Music Video Challenge Facebook event page: facebook.com/share/1CtPBJfauq

How to sign up: Just have your team, or a team representative, come to the back patio of Madison’s on Dowlen from 7pm-8pm on 8/21/26  and let us know that you’re there for the challenge. The host will let teams receive a band from our collection of local music representing a variety of genres. Once your team contact info & selection has been recorded, you’re off!

Price to participate: IT’S FREE TO PARTICIPATE! Even though music videos must be turned in and will be screened at a ticketed event (“Light the Fuse” @ For the Record in Beaumont at 7pm on Friday, August 28), the $10 cover will be waived for up to 5 attending team members when they arrive with their music video. So the challenge is both free for teams to participate in AND free for them to attend “Light the Fuse” where the music videos will be screened & where winners will be selected by the audience.

What if you can’t sign up in person on August 21: If you want to participate but can’t make it to the sign up event at Madison’s on Dowlen then you can contact Boomtown (email: boomtownfest {at} gmail {dot} com) after the challenge has started on the night of 8/21/26 to sign up remotely. Send us your team name and contact info & we’ll send you music for a randomly selected local band that you can use to make your video.

Deadline: 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 28.  Music videos must be delivered as a data file by that deadline, preferably by physically bringing the video file on a drive with you to the “Light the Fuse” launch event at For the Record (999 Calder Ave, Beaumont, TX), or by sharing/e-mailing a download link to us @ boomtownfest {at} gmail {dot} com.

Screening & Decisions: Be sure to stick around after you turn in your music video because all completed vids will be screened immediately after the deadline, at 7:30 PM on Friday, August 28 at For the Record. That’s also when the audience will pick their favorites.
