THE MELODY MAIDS MOVIE
Melody Maids shines a spotlight on the all-girl teenage singing group from Beaumont, TX. From 1942 to 1972, some 1,500 Melody Maids traveled to military bases and hospitals around the world, bringing their stellar voices, hometown smiles, goodwill, and moral support to our soldiers immersed in the war efforts of the day.
Led by local music teacher Eloise Milam, the core theme of the troupe was “Morals, Manners & Music” as they ventured into an array of challenges presented by the performance missions they embarked upon. From distant and remote military locations to travel conditions that were at times unimaginable, Eloise Milam and her Melody Maids raised the bar to American Hero level.

“The Melody Maids Movie” will be shown in the Spindletop Screening Room of the Texas Energy Museum at 4pm on 2/21. All day leading up to that presentation you’re invited to see real Melody Maid artifacts on display next door as part of an exhibit at the Tyrrell Historical Library.
