Spindletop Storytellers Student Competition Entries
Each year Lamar University’s Department of Communication & Media partner with the Boomtown Film Society to hold “Spindletop Storytellers”, a free competition for grade school filmmakers of Souhteast Texas. Lamar’s own student film organization, Red Beak Productions, is proud to host the screening of this year’s selected films.
Winners of the Spindletop Storytellers student competition will be announced and awarded during the main awards ceremony of the Boomtown Film & Music Festival, in downtown Beaumont at the historic Jefferson Theatre @ 6pm on Saturday, Feb 21. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to the 1st Place filmmaker in each category, if they enroll as a major in Lamar University’ Department of Communication and Media for Fall 2026. This scholarship is provided by the Lamar University College of Fine Arts & Communication.
